The Dar Teknohama Business Incubator (DTBi), a Technology incubator in Dar es salaam, has received some funds and is looking for an energetic and vibrant Business Development Manager/Officer (BDM/O) and a Finance cum Grants Manager (FcGM) who will support startups and small companies, with  innovative ideas to scale up and grow by increasing their turnover substantially. DTBi supports and facilitate the growth of innovative ICT (Information and Communications Technology) companies by lowering their cost of doing business through shared infrastructure and by advising and assisting them to increase their revenue streams in the country. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER/OFFICER – SCOPE AND PURPOSE
The BDM/O is responsible for supporting companies in the incubation programme (incubatees), as well as those in the pre-incubation programme (very early stage start-up companies), in structuring and developing their business strategies, business models, business processes, and by facilitating access to business opportunities. Performance is measured against agreed-upon targets, specifically improved revenues of the incubatees.

Duties and responsibilities
 Coaching and support for start-ups/companies in the incubation and pre-incubation
programme, including:
 Identification of strengths and weaknesses of start-ups companies (personal, business
model, products and services, marketing, management, etc.) and guidance in terms of
how to address and improve performance;
 Analysis and interpretation of market conditions affecting start-ups/companies
including opportunities and threats, and competition/market analysis;
 Development of business growth plans, including financial targets, and ongoing
performance and evaluation;
 Negotiation of contracts;
 The development of appropriate activities and business processes associated with sales
and marketing (including the development of a sales pipeline); regulatory compliance;
quality control; human resource development; applying financial management
processes.
 Relationship and network building with key private sector and government stakeholders to source business opportunities for start-ups/companies and pre-incubates.
 Developing appropriate activities and events to attract private sector engagement, revenues and sponsorship for the incubator and its start-up companies.
 Assisting the CEO of the DTBi in developing and implementing marketing programmes to attract entrepreneurs to join the DTBi incubation programme.
 Provide projects support in matters relating to business development.

Academic Qualifications 
A degree in Business Management, Economics or equivalent. An MBA will be an added advantage

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
 At least 7 years of management experience in a middle/senior management position where both business development and general management activities were undertaken and there was evidence of impact (e.g. increase in sales; company market position etc.).
 Entrepreneurial experience (starting and managing a small business) will be an added
advantage.
 Experience in advising growth oriented SMEs with accompanying evidence of impact.
 Evidence of networking and relationship building ability.
 Evidence of negotiating and deal making ability.
 Knowledge and understanding of intellectual property rights laws, guidelines, and policies.
 Experience in selling ICT related services and/or products will be an advantage.
 Computer and financial literacy.

FINANCE cum GRANTS MANAGER – SCOPE AND PURPOSE
The Finance cum Grants Manager is responsible for providing accounting and financial management
services to the incubator and its projects including supporting incubatees in financial management and
management of grants provided to start-ups. Performance is measured against agreed-upon targets,
specifically production of reports in time and good performance for grants issued.

Duties and Responsibilities
 Analyse and evaluate awarded proposals, contracts, and subcontracts for compliance
 Assists in the formulation of processes and procedures for negotiation of contract and grant awards
 Manage project budgets in line with the organisation’s standing financial instructions
 Review and analyse the financial impact of the grants/prizes
 Review grant proposals and/or identify and resolves compliance issues of the          applications
 Responsible for authorising invoices and service user involvement payments.
 Manage potential financial challenges to projects and seek advice/support as required.
 Ensure strong co-ordination of all administrative arrangements for the project.
 Provide coaching and mentorship on financial matters
 Guide and advice client companies on their financial plans
 Guide and coach client companies on preparation and maintenance of financial records
 Analyze financial reports of the grantees and advice accordingly
 Manage Project resources and provide required monthly and quarterly reports
 Provide support to the incubator on financial and accounting matters
 Provide supervisory role in in all matters relating to project financial management including defining project financial indicators.
 Carryout training sessions to start-ups on financial management.
 Assist in preparation of confidential documents\
 Collaborate for synergy with DTBi senior management team
 Assist in raising additional funding for DTBi

Academic Qualifications
A Bachelors degree in Finance or equivalent. An MBA will be an added advantage

SALARY
The salary is both attractive and competitive in the Tanzanian market, and is negotiable according to
qualifications, experience and evidence of performance.
