Dar Teknohama Business Incubator (DTBi) Limited incorporated in 2011 in Tanzania under the Companies Act 2002 as a Private Company limited by guarantee. This initiative was established by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) to support the growth and commercialization of Tanzanians’ digital innovation startups for improving socio-economic livelihood and the country’s wealth.

DTBi in collaboration with AIRTEL TANZANIA is running FURSA LAB programme, in effort to support youth development through technology and innovation at Kijitonyama Sayansi Secondary school in Dar es salaam, Tanzania. The FURSA LAB programme began in July 2017 and has one aim is to empower and facilitate youth especially women to become young business owners who adopt new technology and Digital innovation solutions that can transform their business into sustainable businesses enterprises and promote financial inclusion in the community.

The purpose of the FURSA LAB Programme under DTBI & AIRTEL TANZANIA, in which the two parties cooperated to further implement activities to support the DTBi & AIRTEL FURSA LAB programme and attaining lasting results through the use of information communication technology (ICT) and Digital Innovation Solution. Tanzania to support the use of information communication technology (ICT) and Digital Innovation Solution throughout the country. The FURSA LAB programme works alongside this steer, to support youth from the community and secondary school students to understand the importance of information communication technology (ICT) and Digital Innovation Solution, and how it links to their education in science and business.

Programme Goal:

To empower and facilitate youth especially women to become young business owners who adopt new technology and Digital innovation solutions.

Programme Objectives:

  1. Build a young crop of future young entrepreneurs to have better cognitive capacity through coding and the development of digital solutions in the community.
  2. Building the technical foundation of the community youth developers.
  3. Allow the teachers in the community to be skilled and become more creative and innovative in their teaching methodology and mentor young people to be the future tech/business learners in their future careers.
  4. To develop the digital literacy skills and competencies for Pupil’s and students needed in the 21st century, which will help the learners in their future careers.
  5. Help students to become competent and confident users who can use the internet and basic knowledge and skills acquired to assist them in their daily lives.
  6. Building the technical foundation of the community youth developers.
